“The Walk” is a major retail/entertainment development linking the Atlantic City convention center and transit hubs to the boardwalk-casino-hotel district. It features 11 different window colors and 15 masonry colors, giving each of its 60 storefronts and retail outlets its own distinct look. Eight of the colors are used on less than 100 linear feet. With most manufacturers, the development of these custom colors would have required a minimum purchase of 36 gallons per color, far more than was required to do the job. Many of the other hues would have also been custom colors, since most manufacturers do not carry more than a dozen standard sealant colors. This would require a large on-hand inventory and the risk of not having the right color on-site when change orders occurred.
Spectrem 4-TS Field-Tintable Silicone Sealant was the perfect cost-effective solution. With 70 standard colors and the ability to mix colors on-site, it provided the flexibility and efficiency needed on a development project of this type. Sealant Technology Services of Vincentown New Jersey, never had to wait for materials and could satisfy all last-minute changes, plus waste was virtually eliminated.
On the eight colors with less than 100 linear feet, the minimums on competitive products would have required the purchase of 288 gallons, instead of the 12 gallons of Spectrem 4-TS and the eight color packs. In addition to the economic benefits, Spectrem 4-TS is formulated with Tremco’s patented Advanced Silicone Technology (AST), providing the outstanding weather- and UV resistance of silicone construction sealants along with the added benefits of aggressive adhesion and unprecedented dirt- and stain resistance. The ability to retain a clean, unspoiled appearance for years to come will enable The Walk to maintain its inviting appearance for visitors without ongoing and costly maintenance.
